Wheelchairs for Warriors
Through the Wheelchairs for Warriors Program, the foundations goal is to assist severely disabled veterans with the opportunity to participate in the journey of a marathon with the assistance of a willing runner or runners to push them through the event.  The completion of a marathon is an accomplishment of a lifetime and
is a spiritual healing journey of fulfillness.

This programs efforts are focused on disabled veterans whose injuries are so severe they cannot compete alone.  These veterans have likely suffered a fully paralyzing or brain injury of a debilitating, and grievious nature.

The program was founded in 2008 by GySgt Marc Reed USMC.  Marc along with U.S. Navy Veteran Michael Kuhn of Ocala, Florida completed the Tampa Marathon on March 1st 2009 in 4 hours and 26 minutes.    This inaugural event was made possible due to the generous sponsorships of local businesses and many individual contributions.   Colours Wheelchairs, provided a custom designed wheelchair with a specially fabricated pushbar for the event which was then in turn donated to Michael and his family for his future use.

Preparations are being made for next years event to field two wheelchairs in the Tampa Marathon.  One in the individual division and one in the relay.
